Dr. Carolyn Carter serves as professor of computer information systems and business administration at Milligan. Her expertise in the fields of computer science and computer information systems has led her to teach across all degree levels that Milligan offers. She teaches classes in many different areas, including undergraduate, adult degree completion, Master of Business Administration (MBA), and soon in the upcoming Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) program, launching Fall 2018.

She has earned many degrees—a Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in business education from East Tennessee State University. She holds a second Master of Science degree in computer science education from the University of Evansville and a doctorate in instructional technology from Virginia Tech.

She spent some time as an instructor of high school accounting classes but has been at Milligan for most of her career.

When asked why she loves teaching at Milligan, Carter responded:

“I really enjoy watching a student, no matter their degree level, enhance their skills and see the usefulness in what they’ve learned. It is rewarding to see students gain confidence in their skills and the work they’re doing.”

Carter noted that our programs stand out among others because of the personal attention that students will receive from their instructors. They will also learn about their field through hands-on experiences, such as developing mobile applications, designing databases, building new servers and computers, configuring and programming the latest technology, and internship opportunities.

In her time at Milligan, Carter has seen many of her students excel in their careers after graduation. Many students become business analysts, web designers, network technicians, and system administrators.

Whether you’d like to finish your degree through our Computer Information Systems Mobile (CIS-M) or Business Administration programs, earn your MBA, or pursue the MSIS, you will receive an education that stands out among others. Learn more about our program offerings at www.milligan.edu.
